Battlestar Galactica Season 4 Preview

FanBoyWonder would like to apologize to our loyal readership who haven’t had much to read from us of late.

The truth is, we’ve been caught up putting out fires on the home front during the last few weeks, including some medical issues regarding our wife Mrs. LoveyWonder.

Things came to a head on Monday when we had to admit Lovey to the hospital and we’ve been by her bedside when not sleeping or having to make the occasional appearance at work.

We are hopeful that we will be able to take Lovey home tomorrow (Friday), complete her recovery and then we can both start looking to the future rather than dealing with the crisis management of the moment.

Anyway, the only lemonade out of the giant hospital lemon has been that while sitting at Lovey’s bedside in hurry up and wait mode, we’ve been able to enjoy the Battlestar Galactica marathon broadcast all this week on Sci-Fi channel.

We are eagerly anticipating the premiere of new Battlestar Galactica—the start of the fourth and final season—just 1 year and 2 weeks after the third season’s shocking finale (not that we’ve been counting the days or anything).

The Season 4 premiere episode—He That Believeth In Me—premieres Friday at 10 p.m. (EST) on the Sci-Fi Channel.

Here’s the Upshot from the Sci-Fi Channel: The thin line that separates humanity from the rapidly evolving Cylons is redrawn, as Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff) returns from the dead with claims that she has found Earth.

Well all-righty then---so Starbuck is alive. She’s been to Earth and she’s going to take the fleet there. So it’s going to be all right—Right? Yeah Right! What fraking show have YOU been watching for the past 3 seasons???

FanBoyWonder has been trying to avoid spoilers for Season 4—not an easy task—but from the previews we’ve seen, it’s going to be dark, people will die and relationships will be forever changed. You know, the same s**t as last season—to paraphrase Starbuck during BSG’s Lettermen Top Ten appearance www.cbs.com/latenight/lateshow/top_ten.

We’ve had a year to process last season’s bombshell revelation that four of the Final Five Cylons were Col Tigh (Michael Hogan), Starbuck’s husband Samuel T. Anders (Michael Trucco) President Roslin’s aide Tory Foster (Rekha Sharma) and Chief Tyrol (Aaron Douglas).

We’re still blown away. Anders and Tory makes dramatic sense and Col. Tigh is a delicious irony but Tyrol as a Cylon disappointed and annoys us.

We love that Tigh—the most rabid Cylon hater—turns out to be a self-hating Cylon. But Chief Tyrol was the everyman character. His best scene last season with President Roslin (Mary McDonnell) acting as labor negotiator was—in our estimation—cheapened in the extreme by his new Cylon origins.

But we’ll eagerly see how it plays out as Tyrol deals with his greatest fear come true.

Something tantalizing however is that with this news of Tyrol’s true family tree, it turns out that baby Nicky Tyrol is also a Cylon-Human hybrid and now baby Hera—the child of Helo (Tahmoh Penikett) and Athena (Grace Park)—is no longer the only hybrid in town.

Meanwhile, in the previews we see that Roslin and Caprica Six (Tricia Helfer)—the real one, not Dr. Baltar’s (James Callis’) imaginary friend—finally share a scene together one-on-one. We’ve been longing to see these two formidable characters square off.

Speaking of Six, word has it that we’ll be seeing a new version of the Cylon Model No. 6—Natalie—who is seeking to “unite” the 12 Cylon models

Finally, the big question is—Who is the Final Cylon????

In press interviews, BSG cast and writers have sworn on a stack of sacred scrolls that it’s NOT recently revived Starbuck—although everyone among the crew will think that she is. It also couldn’t or shouldn’t be Baltar—that would be too easy and it would be a cop out.

Our choice as the out of left field wild card Cylon is Billy Keikeya (Paul Campbell)—Roslin’s former aide and close confident. He was killed off in Season 2’s Sacrifice but death is but a minor matter downloading Cylons. There’s no fraking way it would happen but it would sure be a shocker.

For more information, including the 8 minute recap of BSG’s first three seasons—titled What The Frak Is Going On With BSG--check out Sci-Fi Channels’ BSG website (www.scifi.com/battlestar).

Then enjoy the beginning of the end of the best show on television. So Say We All!!!
